Guy Wilson Update 12/2/2021 8AM
Status:
Today Guy struggled to breath with oximeter readings generally in the 70s.
Guy refused to go to the hospital as many came to help us try to get his O2 levels up.
About 5PM Today Guy had a coughing fit and felt great pain in his lungs. He finally consented to having us call the ambulance.
By 7 PM Guy was admitted to Syringa Hospital and was diagnosed with double pneumonia and a collapsed lung. He was stabilized with antibiotics and a saline drip but he could not be moved to a better hospital till his O2 levels got to 92% without intubation.
After an hour of being on many O2 machines, Guy's levels never got over 84% so the doctors told him he had either no chance of survival or to allow intubation for transport. He eventually consented to intubation.
We waited about an hour for a bed to be located at one of the larger hospitals.
St. Joseph's came in first but the lead Dr. at Syringa [later correction: St. Joseph's] felt he was too complex a case for that hospital.
Eventually St. Lukes (Meridian) got an open bed and a helicopter was sent to Grangeville to pick him up.
After almost an hour the helicopter was about to arrive but weather changes told them they could not land in Meridian so they ended up taking another patient to Lewiston.
A plane was dispatched from Meridian(?) to pick him up. That was about the time we left to go home.
I spoke with Guy briefly before we left (about 11pm) and told him to fight like hell and get back to us. He was conscious but very much engaged in just breathing on several machines. He won't be intubated till the transport is ready.
Andra is driving to Meridan as I write this and has kids there she can stay with.
Pray:
He can hold on till, during and after the ride to Meridian.
That the transport plane and weather will work to get him there soon.
That St. Lukes has the expertise to help pull him through.
That Andra gets there safely and can get some sleep tonight.
Kim and I would like to thank all who helped us over the past few very stressful days.
Guy Wilson Update 12/3/21 noon
Status:
Kim just got off the phone with Andra.
Guy's O2 levels got up to 96% today and they were able to X-Ray and CT scan him.
There is both newer and older scarring in his lungs. The older may be from about a year ago when he put out a fire single-handedly and was burned badly on his hands or maybe from years ago when he smoked for a time.
His existing breathing tube had some issues so a second one was added higher up in the lung and once it is confirmed that it is working well the old one should be removed.
This is great news but he is far from out of the woods.
Andra just found out her first husband just died so she is also dealing with this issue.
Prayer:
Pray that Guy's O2 levels continue to come up and stabilize
Pray that the breathing tube issue can be quickly resolved.
Pray that Andra gets extra spiritual support to handle grieving issues from her first husband's death.
Policy:
This is our daily update but we wanted it out asap. If anything significant happens before tomorrow I will send out a quick update but in general we will be sending these out daily.
Guy Wilson update 12/4/21 11AM
Status (Kim):
Here is what I talked to Andra about putting in the update today:
The doctor said that Guy had a good night. They removed the original chest tube this morning, closing it with sutures. Today, the doctor ordered Guy to have a "paralytic holiday or sedation vacation" - which means that he is not receiving the medication that keeps him in a "paralyized state" for today. This is good news, as they are doing this a day earlier than they thought they could do this. This gives his body a chance to return to some "normal" body functions, and movements of his muscles and extremities. Andra said that soon after they stopped the medication, Guy opened his eyes. This day without sedation is a balancing act of reducing the sedatives to provide agitation free, comfortable sedation at the lowest dosage possible. They also reduced his reliance on the ventilator by 10%. His oxygens level is around 90%, which the medical staff are happy with. His heart rate is remaining at a more normal rate (it was extremely high before he went in the hospital and for the first couple of days in the hospital).
The most urgent concern is Guy's right lung that collapsed. It is very stiff, has a lot of scarring, and the hole or tear that occurred is very concerning to the doctor. Surgery would not help it at this point.
Prayers:
For the healing of his right lung and his whole body
That his body copes well with the reduction of the sedatives
That God would use this situation for healing in more ways than just Guy's physical health
For Andra, as she is the main contact with the medical team; for keeping her strong, healthy and for her steadfast faith.
or Guy's medical team, for wisdom and discernment for providing Guy with the best medical interventions that will return him to a full recovery
Guy Wilson Update 12/5/2021 10AM
Status:
As mentioned yesterday, Guy was put on a "sedation vacation" from the paralytic medications. In the afternoon, a test was performed on his lungs - to evaluate how they were functioning. He failed the test, which means his lungs were still not working properly. His lungs are rigid and have a lot of scarring. They think there is more damage to his lungs than they originally thought (more scarring, and the newer lesions are not healing but are becoming scar tissue.)
Andra spoke to his doctor - Dr. Rich - this morning. Guy did fine last night, although he had blood work done this morning that showed that his blood gas exchanges are less efficient.
On the positive side - his organs appear to be functioning normally. They are taking this one day at a time right now. Andra really likes Dr. Rich - he is straightforward, kind, and admits that he doesn't know everything. The main RN these past 4 days for Guy is wonderful. She asks about what Guy is like, his personality and his interests. She has wanted to see pictures of him, and was even going to looking up the most recent Youtube video (https://youtu.be/2pGxVvSizoE?t=336) Guy made with Jeremiah on the Tesla Turbine.
Prayers:
For the healing of his lungs, specifically the capillaries and alveoli, healing of the lesions and the scarring, that his lungs become less rigid; and for his whole body
That his body copes well with the sedation he is on
That God would use this situation for healing in more ways than just Guy's physical health
For Andra, as she is the main contact with the medical team; for keeping her strong, healthy and for her steadfast faith. And for her children as they grieve the loss of their biological father and handle the situation.
For Guy's medical team, for wisdom and discernment for providing Guy with the best medical interventions that will return him to a full recovery.
Comments:
(Sandy): I am beginning to feel we need God to do a really big miracle here and that is what I am praying for. I can't imagine what kind of impact on this community and on the hospital it would be to all of a sudden find Guy with a completely new set of lungs.
I wonder a lot about what made the lungs freeze both before and after Guy got to the hospital.
Some things are handled great by normal medicine and had Guy felt he could trust the doctors, he might have gone in sooner for tests and lung status. Unfortunately those in the know like Guy know that there are a lot of downsides to normal medicine and it is impossible to completely protect yourself from those risks (like MRSA etc.)
I am very sad at these developments. Thank you so much for praying!
Guy Wilson Update 12/6/2021 11AM
Status:
Guy has a new doctor and a new RN for the next round of shift days. Andra likes both of them. Guy had a rougher night than his previous ones. They repositioned him to prevent pressure sores and his body reacted negatively. His O2 levels dropped and his blood pressure increased. It took a couple of hours for him to recuperate from this - and is back to more typical stats for him.
The concern continues to be his lungs. The right lung is slowly worsening, with the damage developing into more scar tissue (versus them healing.)
Andra is bringing in pictures that Guy would like - ones of the ocean, sailing, of him, and his pets.
Side note: The hospital doesn't allow fresh flowers or live plants in the ICU.
Prayer:
For the healing of his lungs, specifically the healing of the lesions and the scarring; that his lungs become less rigid and more supple; and for his whole body
That his body copes well with the sedation he is on
That God would use this situation for healing in more ways than just Guy's physical health
For protection from the evil forces at work in our world and around Guy (See comments section)
For Andra, as she is the main contact with the medical team; for keeping her strong, healthy and for her steadfast faith. Also for her strength to support her children as they grieve the loss of their biological father, make arrangements for a service of some kind and plan for his burial.
For Guy's new medical team, for wisdom and discernment for providing Guy with the best medical interventions that will return him to a full recovery
For his two sons, as they cope with this situation with their father
Comments (Sandy):
Rumor has it that 5 days is about the point in time when the hospital maximizes their profit from using approved COVID procedures. Remdesivere is typically given and is rumored to be a “kill shot” as clinical trials on it were stopped after 52% of patients died. Andra will be making sure this is not administered to Guy.
It’s a bit scary to even mention this kind of stuff as it is all rumor as far as I know at this point but info is coming from multiple and reliable sources and prayer warriors need this kind of context to pray appropriately.
It’s not looking good for Guy at this point and the hospital could be doing all the right things but many pitfalls and traps lurk where Guy is. There is much financial incentive in place to encourage doctors and hospitals to use CDC/WHO approved procedures and we know how honest and trustworthy these guys are.
Thanks again for all your prayers, suggestions, encouragement and offers of help.
Guy Wilson Update 12/7/2021 10AM
Status:
This update is difficult for us to write. Guy's doctors are saying that he probably has hours to a day or so to live. His physical state is continuing to decline. His O2 levels are in the 80's, his heart rate is elevated (in the mid 120's) and his blood pressure is very low. His lungs are not healing, as well as remaining rigid and developing more scar tissue.
Both of Guy's sons have been able to say to him what they needed to via the phone. Andra has been in the room with Guy since early this morning, and can remain with Guy (even through the night tonight) if he appears to continue to decline.
Prayers:
For the healing of his lungs, specifically the healing of the lesions and the scarring; that his lungs become less rigid and more supple; and for his whole body to improve
That his body copes well with the sedation he is on
That God would use this situation for healing in more ways than just Guy's physical health
For protection from the evil forces at work in our world and around Guy
For Andra, as she is the main contact with the medical team; for keeping her strong, healthy and for her steadfast faith. Also for her strength to support her children as they grieve the loss of their biological father, make arrangements for a service of some kind and plan for his burial.

Comments (Sandy):
I am grieving for Guy. Last night my mind was trying to figure out some way to get him out of this trap of sedation and intubation and into a hyperbaric oxygen chamber. I could think of no way. I began to think about what I would say about him at a memorial.
Hope is not gone but things are looking bleak.
Thanks to all for your prayers, advice and offers of help.
Guy Wilson Update 12/7/2021 11PM
Guy left this world to be in a better place about 9:45PM 12/7/2021 Pacific Time.
Please continue to pray for Andra. One of her daughters is with her now.
I will continue to update you as service plans develop,

Here is more information regarding the passing of Guy:
He passed away at 10:30pm MST in St. Luke's Hospital in Meridian, ID.
When she returned to the hospital after receiving the phone call, she
met with the chaplain on duty and the coroner.
At Guy's request, he wanted to be cremated and his ashes spread in the
Pacific Ocean. The tentative thought at this time is to hold a Memorial
Service in January (in the Kooskia/Kamiah area), and have a private
gathering next summer to spread his ashes into the pacific ocean.
Here is a "thank you" Andra wrote to all of you:
Dear family and friends,
I want to say a huge "Thank You" for all the prayers, loving thoughts
and offers for help. I feel so richly blessed to receive back a
harvest that Guy planted. Are you all very special!
You have made this sad event into an inspirational and spiritual event.
About last night:
I had been at the hospital with Guy from 7am to 9pm. They would not
let me spend the night because his numbers were "too good!!" Ninety
minutes after I left the hospital, I got the phone call that Guy had
passed away. I had not removed my coat! When the call came in, I was
searching Facebook and discovered a previous message from Guy to me
personally, that I had never seen before. I truly feel that this
message is a current communication to me as he begins his next adventure.

I did a lot of work yesterday on the Update Log site which is now more
of a memorial site. We have added a donation link so people can help
Andra out with funeral expenses. We also have a photos page which
anyone can contribute to by clicking on a link on the photos page.
We also have all the updates moved to a separate page and are now
much more readable. You can also get yourself added to this update
email list there. I have improved the code to take your testimonials
and memories and memorials for Guy. I will be adding a memorial
status section to the site once we have plans more in place.
This site will be the central place and I may have future updates
just link to the appropriate update spot on the site.
